As cyber threats evolve at breakneck speed, organisations worldwide are recognising the urgent need for advanced cybersecurity training for their executive leadership. Recently, senior staff from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) travelled to the prestigious Sofitel London for a private, four-day programme curated specifically for business leaders. The programme immersed attendees in the knowledge and tools they need to navigate the complex world of cyber threats in 2025.

Through expert-led sessions by Cyber Management Alliance, interactive workshops, and real-world case studies, participants gained actionable insights into risk management, incident response, and the development of a robust cybersecurity culture. The curated programme covered key aspects of Cyber Incident Planning and Response, Building and Optimising Incident Response Playbooks, Crisis Management for Executives and Scenario-based Cyber Drills.

The bespoke four-day session equipped participants with the skills and confidence to respond effectively to cyber incidents. Led by world renowned trainer, Amar Singh, it helped them understand the cyber threats their businesses face. They explored real-world ransomware incidents, dissected cases of phishing and social engineering, and discussed practical ways of staying safe online. Executives were introduced to the fundamentals of information security and the principles of cybersecurity governance and risk management.

Cybersecurity is a Business Priority & Everyone Should be Prepared

The attendees from Bank of Nigeria unanimously shared how eye-opening the training was for them - not just in terms of the threats that their industry faces, but also how cybersecurity has taken centre stage as a business problem.

One of the most striking takeaways, they said, was that cybersecurity is not just a concern for IT teams. Procurement, governance, compliance, communications, and operational units all play critical roles when a cyber attack occurs. The four-day programme ensured every department understood their part in the wider incident response ecosystem. The CBN attendees experienced first-hand how collaboration, communication, and preparation can make the difference between swift recovery and prolonged disruption.

The feedback from the CBN team reflects the global relevance of the programme and the impact it made for them.

Olufemi Lailope Owolabi
, Assistant Director, Governor's Department, said:"The programme was very engaging and insightful. It gave me a new perspective on cybersecurity threats that are embedded within our space. This is the time more than ever that global participants need to come together and discuss cyber security because we live in a digital world and everything is interwoven, interconnected and getting more complex. So, this is the time to discuss cybersecurity more."

Yusuf Bello Mohammed, Head of Service Support, IT Department, said:"I can see the vast knowledge that the trainer Amar has come with in cybersecurity, incident response and disaster recovery. There's really a lot to learn in the cybersecurity space. In fact, if you think you know a lot before, you'll discover that there's a lot for you to learn. I think this training is something that is for everybody, not just for the IT people. I recommend it for everybody in the bank."

Ifeanyi Jude Muonagor, Head of Security, IT Department, said:"The trainer is really knowledgeable... not just knowledgeable, he was able to communicate that knowledge which was very important for me. The way the issues were presented and the conversation was carried on was very impressive. He was able to bring everybody talking, get everybody interacting, get everyone to chip in with different perspectives. In the end, it was a major learning experience."

Highlights of the Four-Day Cyber Resilience Programme for Executives

The specially designed, four-day cybersecurity training for executives helped them uncover all key aspects of incident response - from examining the nature of cyber incidents, profiling threat actors to making critical business decisions during a cybersecurity crisis. They got an in-depth insight into how rapid, well-coordinated actions can drastically reduce damage in the midst of a cyber incident. The training also covered PR and communications strategies during incidents, legal and regulatory considerations, and the importance of creating a solid incident response framework.

Crisis Management was a focal point in the training programme for Central Bank of Nigeria executives. They explored crisis preparedness strategies and techniques for decision-making under pressure. The programme also addressed strategic communication during emergencies and the essentials of crisis leadership and recovery.

Through reviewing real-world crisis case studies, participants assessed what effective leadership looks like in the aftermath of a cyber attack — and how poor decision-making can amplify damage.

They also worked through realistic, non-technical cyber incident scenarios that tested their decision-making, collaboration, and communication under pressure. The exercise sparked active discussion, with each attendee contributing perspectives from their area of expertise.
